The problem

Stop checking multiple city websites.

Your garbage schedule lives on one site, permits on another, snow routes on a third, alerts somewhere else. myHata reads them all and notifies you when something on your street changes.

Notifications

You choose what you hear about

Every source has its own switch. Choose instant alerts, a daily digest or a weekly roundup — or turn a source off entirely.

Per-source control

Turn each category on or off, and set how urgent it has to be before you hear about it.

Instant · daily · weekly

Time-sensitive alerts arrive right away; the rest comes as a digest.

Track more than one home In development

Watching a rental or a parent's place? Being able to add several addresses and switch between them is coming after launch.

Built on open civic data

The sources behind your dossier

Everything myHata shows you is public information — the same data the City, police, fire service and province already publish. We gather it, pin it to your address, and turn it into notifications.

City of Winnipeg Open Data

Garbage & recycling schedules, snow routes and parking bans, building permits, planning & public notices, 311 requests, road and lane closures, capital projects, vacant-building orders, water quality and property assessment.

Open data portal

Winnipeg Police Service

Residential break-ins and auto thefts from the public E-Watch feed, neighbourhood crime trends from Crime Maps, and WPS news releases — matched to your police district.

Public safety data

Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service

Fresh fire and paramedic incident data near your home, plus a 12-month call-volume trend so a single call nearby doesn't read as a crisis.

Incident feed

Manitoba Hydro

In development

The public power-outage map, matched against your home's location so we can tell you whether an outage covers your address or just passes nearby.

Outage map

Alert Ready / Environment Canada

Canada's national emergency alerting system — severe weather, air quality, flood and civil-emergency broadcasts — geo-filtered to your exact area.

National alerts

Air Quality Health Index

Live AQHI observations from the nearest Environment Canada monitoring station, with the official health guidance for the current level.

ECCC realtime

Health & facilities

In development

ER and urgent-care wait-time estimates published by the WRHA, and nearby facilities like pharmacies and 24-hour vets. Never medical advice — in an emergency, call 911.

FAQ

Common questions about the data

Is this official City of Winnipeg data?

It's the City's public, open data — the same records anyone can download. myHata is an independent app; we're not operated by, or affiliated with, the City of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Police Service, the fire service or Manitoba Hydro. We simply organize what they publish and credit each source.

How current is it?

It depends on the source. Some feeds update within minutes (emergency alerts, air quality), others daily or weekly (police E-Watch, crime trends). Each card in the app shows how fresh its data is.

What do you do with my address?

Your address is used to filter public data to your area and, on the server side, to route the right notifications to your device. We don't sell your personal information. The lists we build for launch are just emails you've given us so we can tell you when the app ships.

Can I rely on it for emergencies?

myHata surfaces official alerts quickly, but it's a convenience layer, not a replacement for 911, Alert Ready on your device, or official channels. Always follow the guidance from emergency services directly.

Why only Winnipeg?

Because myHata is wired to Winnipeg's specific open datasets and feeds. Bringing it to a new city means connecting that city's equivalent data. If you'd like your city next, tell us here — we prioritize the ones people ask for.

I publish one of these feeds — are you using my data?

We credit every source, link back to the original, and pass each provider's disclaimers through to residents. We show only factual records — never personal or clinical data. If you have a question, a request, or would prefer we change how we use a feed — including turning a source off — reach us at hello@myhata.app; many sources can be disabled remotely, without an app update.
